In Memoriam – Lt. Col. (Retd) Enamul Huq

It was with great sadness that we received the news of the passing away of Lt.Col. (Retd) Enamul Huq, our long term partner, agent and friend on the 22nd of July. A great visionary, entrepreneur and founder & managing director of Maple Leaf International is no longer with us. I clearly remember our first contact in January 2003. After E-Crane delivered the first machine to Hyundai Cement in September 2001 Colonel Huq immediately saw the great potential for the E-Crane solutions in the local market and got in touch. After having a number of phone calls in January we met for...

Green unloading by Viterra in the United Kingdom

It’s the result that counts! Unloading bulk carriers can be accomplished in many different ways depending on vessel size and required unloading rate, and users are always looking for the most reliable, cost-effective solution. When faced with the challenge of replacing their mobile harbour crane due to a terminal and warehouse upgrade Viterra carried out a comparative study of the available products. Main requirements were that the new unloader needed to be mobile and able to unload Panamax vessels without the need for support equipment – except for final clean-up, and would have a minimal environmental...

Completion of DIAP-DAELIM joint venture reclamation works – Tuas Port, West of Singapore

Recently the DIAP-DAELIM joint venture has completed the reclamation works for phase 1 of Tuas Port in the west of Singapore. Reportedly 450 companies took part in the project totalling 34 million man hours. For the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore this is a major milestone in the construction of Singapore’s Next Generation Port. We are very proud that one of our cranes has played a small part in this project filling the 221 caissons, each with a height of a 10-storey building, with dredged material. The E-Crane used for this task was a 2000B Series with 45 meters outreach and 24.5 ton...

LIDEX: GALLOO chooses COPEX

A LIDEX scrap shear has just been started up at the GALLOO Group site in the Ardennes. The machine is installed in GALLOO’s subsidiary in Hirson, bought by the Group in 2006, and which then moved to a new site in the same city in 2009. The team, managed by Benoit Hincelin, has developed the activity from 1,000 to 3,000 tons processed per month. The old 800-ton shear was worn out and insufficient for those new production needs. It therefore was decided to invest in a new stationary scrap shear with the objective of processing 150 tons a day. After investigating the market of European...

E-Crane’s 1st crane shipment under a container project!

E-Crane is proud to announce that recently we successfully conducted our first E-Crane shipped via a container vessel! This shipment option results in a substantial freight cost reduction for the customer, as well as great flexibility in the boarding schedule with almost weekly departures from worldwide ports. It’s important to note that the container shipment for the E-Crane is not the standard type (with 10’, 20’, or 40’ containers), but uses “Flat Rack” (FR) and “High Cube” (HC) type containers.  The larger E-Crane components were accommodated on several FR containers put together (called...

E-Crane gives the Green Advantage

Energy consumption and environmental impact are key when it comes to investment in new port equipment – in other words, the environmental impact of a port crane needs to be minimized. On the other hand, the cost associated with handling one ton of bulk material also has great importance, as this shows the economic feasibility. When handling difficult dry bulk materials as well as steel scrap, hydraulic material handlers have become standard and are considered the most suitable solution for the job. Wherever you look, traditional rope cranes are being replaced by hydraulic units that...

Found on the Web: White is the New Green

ADEGEM – Energy consumption and environmental impact are becoming increasingly important when a company invests in new material handling equipment. In other words, nowadays the impact on the environment caused by a material handler needs to be minimized. Additionally, the cost to handle one ton of bulk material also has great importance, as this shows the economic feasibility. As a result, over the last few years, there has been a tendency towards more energy efficiency. Several manufacturers now supply material handlers with hybrid systems, where the energy that is released during...
