Midstream Cargo Transfer on the Mississippi

A heavy duty, high performance floating 4000C-Series E-Crane was recently commissioned. This powerhouse E-Crane provides the flexibility to berth anywhere around a barge or ship thereby providing the means for optimal efficiency and operability. A perfect example of midstream transfer on the Mississippi.

The complexity of midstream operations requires a unique combination of knowledge, experience, and dedication of the stevedoring company. Moving 57 US ton (52 ton) at an outreach of 104 ft (38 m) with a 4000C Series E-Crane in the middle of the mighty Mississippi was a humbling experience for our engineers.

Midstream operations with on the LH a barge, in the middle the floating E-Crane and on the RH the ship. A solution providing flexibility to berth anywhere around a barge or ship thereby providing the means for optimal efficiency and operability.

ON THE COMMISSIONING OF A 4000C SERIES FLOATING CRANE

The commissioning of newly installed E-Cranes is a crucial process where E-Crane engineers ensure that the crane is correctly installed and operates as expected. At the same time, we verify that the crane can be operated safely and efficiently.

But there’s more to the story. E-Crane test engineers take this opportunity to make various adjustments in collaboration with the crane operators. These commissioning moments are of exceptional importance. This collaboration often leads to valuable suggestions and feedback, which we appreciate and incorporate. It is precisely this feedback that forms the foundation for further product development. Listening carefully to our customers is not merely a best practice; it is a foundational principle for creating E-Crane solutions that deliver real value, foster loyalty, and drive innovation.

The commissioning of a floating 4000C-Series E-Crane for our customer Cooper Consolidated on the lower Mississippi was a perfect example of this. Not only we collaborated with the crane operators, but also we worked closely together with key personnel (and their teams) responsible for maintenance (Shane), electricity (Tim), and operations (Scott).

Extensive testing was carried out for 3 days. E-Crane’s real-time telemetry allows our on-site team to work with expert engineers in our Adegem office. Hundreds of parameters are simultaneously visualized and analyzed by E-Crane experts, no matter where they find themselves around the world. By collecting and evaluating the data in real time, E-Crane engineers gain immediate visibility into the performance and behavior of the crane, enabling fast and efficient crane parameter tuning.

Just another way how E-Crane shows technological superiority.

Our thanks to everyone who contributed, near or far, to the success of this exceptionally challenging project.
