Review – Group Galloo: Commissions its fifth (5th) E-Crane®

Group Galloo: Commissions its fifth (5th) E-Crane®

CARMI, a subsidiary of the Galloo Recycling Group, has just installed a new E-Crane®, the fifth (5th) E-Crane for the Group. This 700 Series E-Crane has over 26 meters of outreach and 6 tons of lift capacity throughout its operating range. The crane will be feeding a new 1400 HP shredder and also sorting and stockpiling scrap.

In close cooperation with Galloo’s technical staff and with Mr. Jan Vandeputte, the yard manager, the E-Crane design includes a special lower, a dual operating mode for both grab and hook duties, tempered safety glass windows, a load indicating and angle protection system along with other options … all to optimize performance and operating safety.

Special attention was given to a fire suppression system. The crane operator can use the crane to spray water onto burning or overheated scrap piles or a fire in the shredder. The high cab position gives the operator excellent visibility and with the E-Crane’s extended reach the crane can quickly get close to the fire, dramatically improving the efficiency of the fire protection system.

Galloo is one of the most important recycling companies for ferrous and non-ferrous metals in Western Europe. The investment by Galloo in a new shredder and also in its fifth E-Crane clearly shows confidence in the future and more specifically in the E-Crane® product line.
