Na het zand komen de stenen op de Tweede Maasvlakte, die al aardig vorm begint te krijgen. Ongeveer 20.000 grote blokken beton krijgen met behulp van een megagrote kraan, de Blockbuster, een plek in de harde zeewering. Die is nodig om het opgespoten land, inmiddels ongeveer 170 miljoen kubieke meter zand ofwel 110 keer de Rotterdamse Kuip, te beschermen. Gelezen in de nieuwsbrief van de Port of Rotterdam, Projectorganisatie Maasvlakte 2:De Blockbuster is de afgelopen maanden een imposante verschijning geworden op de Maasvlakte. Deze speciaal ontworpen kraan gaat in het najaar de eerste grote stenen in de zeewering van Maasvlakte 2 plaatsen. Nu wordt er getest en doen de machinisten ervaring op met de nieuwe kraan.
