Carver Marine expanded their fleet by adding a 3000C Series E-Crane to their midstream cargo transfer facility on the Cooper River in Charleston, SC. Named “Grace”, the E-Crane travels on rail mounted on a barge and is the only mobile bulk ship unloading crane of its kind in the area. The barge mounted E-Crane can be moved between sites and ships, and can operate as a midstream transfer station, or it can be positioned along a dock, giving Carver Marine a lot of flexibility.
Before the addition of the E-Crane, Carver relied on four traditional ship cranes (with a crew of eight or nine people) to offload cargo from ship to barge. This process required managing multiple moving parts. With the E-Crane, all of that complexity is condensed into a single, streamlined operation, with more efficiency and greater safety. The E-Crane is powered by an onboard generator and is supported by a mechanical facility on the barge, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth maintenance. The E-Crane operator sits in a comfortable, ergonomic cab, and can oversee the entire operation from an excellent vantage point.
The new E-Crane aligns with Carver’s emphasis on safety and environmental sustainability, and with Carver’s role shaping the future of the maritime sector. Carver’s forward-thinking approach gives their clients a better, more efficient solution for bulk cargo handling.
Previously, we used four ship cranes to offload the cargo into barges. That’s a lot of moving parts. Now with the E-Crane, all those moving parts are condensed down into one state-of-the-art machine that’s able to work in a much more safe and efficient manner.
