Shiploader for bagged goods

General

The shiploader for bagged goods is a mobile installation on the quay with telescopic boom. The basic boom has a head lattice construction that contains the supporting rollers, the lantern gear drive and the cable pulleys of the suspension of the boom.
The telescopic part of the boom carries on the front the complete spiral chute and the hydraulic cylinder for keeping the chute in upright position.
With this loading installation, the entire ship’s hold can be covered without the need to shift the ship during loading.
The loading process is done by moving the entire installation along the quay, by the telescopic movement and hoisting of the boom, by the telescopic movement of the spiral chute and by swinging of the loading head.

Inside the installation, the transport takes place in the following matter:The bags arriving on the longitudinal quay conveyor belt are taken up by a bag receiving cart, turned 90° by the round conveyor belt and via a supply conveyor belt transferred to the conveyor belt of the boom. Because the boom is telescopic, this conveyor belt inside the boom is split in 2 parts. The first part is inside the basic boom and the second part inside the telescopic boom. The telescopic distance is 12.5 m / 41 ft.
The bags are conveyed to the spiral chute on both conveyor belts of the boom. Here, they are either buffered or they continue directly to the turntable. From here, they are transferred to the loading head. The loading head consists of a double telescopic roller conveyor with a detachable conveyor belt.

The shiploader is made up of the following units:

  1. Steel structure
Gantries in a strong frame structure with fixed supports at the water and land sides. A tower comprising two frame uprights, main girder with built-in roller and 2 main ties.
Machine room with hoisting drum. The telescopic boom consists of the fully closed basic boom and telescopic boom. At the end of the basic boom, the cable pulleys for the hoisting cable are mounted.
  2. Machine installations
Gantry trolley at the gantry supports at respectively the water and land sides. 50% of the running wheels are driven off synchronously switched flanged motors with conical gear equipped with collector rings, eddy-current brakes and disc brakes.
The hoisting gear consists of the hoisting drum assembly with collector ring motors and eddy-current brakes, flanged reduction gear, band brake and external drum brake. The cable routing is according to DIN15020, cable routing group 1Am, carried out with galvanized crosslay cables. Telescopic installation with rack and pinion drive, reduction gear motor with conical gear transmission with collector rings, eddy-current brake and disc brake.
Control cabin at the upper part of the gantry. The entire installation is operated from the control panel that is located here.
  3. Transport installation
Bag receiving cart with round conveyor belt. Ascending supply conveyor belt to the shiploader. Conveyor belt of the boom in telescopic execution. Axle base ranging from 17.5 to 30 m (57.5 to 98.5 ft)
Conveyor belt width 800 mm (31.5″). Flat belt with U-shaped carriers. Driven off gearbox motors with brake and chain transmission.
  4. Loading installation
Telescopic spiral chute comprising platform, stainless steel chute, protection cage, rain cover, hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic pumping unit and chute which is telescopic over 3m (9.8 ft). Loading head assembly with loading case, telescopic roller conveyors n° 1 and n° 2, loading turntable, bag chute and detachable conveyor belt.
  5. Electrical installation
Main switchboard with all main and auxiliary protection devices, fuses and accessories. Control panel with all required switchgear for incorporating in the main switchboard. Arrangement in the machine room. Control panel with all controls. Arrangement in the control cabin. Main power supply via a power supply channel that is inside the quay and the main power cable drum.
Control power supply via the control cable and the control power cable. Switchboard with all switchgear for mounting to the loading case. Portable control panel with flexible power supply line and plug contact, approx. 7 m (23 ft) long. Main and safety switch at the staircase on the gantry. Anemometer and warning light for air traffix mounted on the top of the tower.
Operating Principle
The shiploader is first switched on at the staircase of the gantry by switching on the main switch that is there. Next, the main switch in the machine room must be switched on. Control of the entire installation is done from the control panel inside the control cabin for the high speeds and from the portable control panel in the ship’s hold for the low speeds.

— Operation with lock: Selection switch “Transportvergrendeling” (transport locked) is on “MET” (with). All conveyor belts are electrically interlocked and operate automatically.

— Operation without lock: Selection switch “Transportvergendeling” (transport locked) is on “ZONDER” (without). Each conveyor belt can be started and stopped individually.

— Control from emergency stop: By operating one of these switches, the control is switched off. All drives are stopped immediately. When after this interruption of the work process the control is switched on again, one can proceed automatically. The audible signal for starting of the conveyor is sounded as as warning.
