It’s Full Steam Ahead…

During the second half of 2011 E-Crane Worldwide shipped another 700 series E-Crane to S Alam Sugar Refinery. It is the first machine to be used in the City of Chittagong (the largest seaport in Bangladesh) as well as the first floating E-Crane in Bangladesh.

After completion of the construction of the barge by our client the E-Crane was installed and commissioned by the E-Crane erection team, assisted by Maple Leaf International’s service engineers, during the 4th quarter of 2011. After a short period of testing and training actual production started on the 29th of December 2011 when the first barges with raw sugar started to arrive from Chittagong outer anchorage.

Since that date a total of 55.000 metric tons of raw sugar was unloaded by this E-Crane into a land based hopper in a total of 229 operating hours. This means an average through ship capacity of over 260 tons per hour has been accomplished (including manual clean-up)!

Congratulations are in order to the crane operators who have done an excellent job unloading the first shipment of raw sugar!
